Under the Data Protection Act 1998, any company which processes and retains personal information about its customers needs to notify the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Price Engines is a registered handler of data and we regularly audit our data handling practices to ensure DPA compliance. Our Registration Number is Z4974297
As part of this compliance, we also have a responsibility to ensure that those companies we pass data to (that’s you!) are also in compliance with the DPA.
If you download lead data from Price Engines and store it on your own computer or filing system, you almost definitely need to have notified the ICO of your status as a holder of data.
You also need to ensure, amongst other things, that you do not retain information for longer than is necessary, you keep data securely, and you do not allow others to access it unless you have the permission of the customer whose data it is.
