April 20th, 2009

Twitter is an online short messaging service, posting a “tweet” is like sending a text message to the whole world. It’s a great way to keep in touch with your own customers, and reach out to potential new ones. At Price Engines we use Twitter to keep you informed of what we’re up to, and we’ve just introduced lead delivery via Twitter.

Signing up is free, instant and easy – you simply go to twitter.com, choose a username and password and get started straight away.

Following is how you decide whose tweets you want to see. You can follow others and keep track of what they’re saying – others can follow you and see what you are saying.

Replying to others is simply a case of writing their twitter username proceeded by ‘@’ – so to send a message to priceengines you’d send a tweet which included ‘@priceengines’.

Private Messages can be sent to people who follow you – these are not shared with anyone other than the recipient. Price Engines use Private Messages to deliver leads.

To receive leads through Twitter, you need to be following Price Engines. To do this simply log into Twitter, go to the Price Engines Twitter page and click the ‘follow’ button. Once you’re following us, simply update your lead delivery options on your Customer Admin page and we’ll start sending you leads straight away.

FAQ: What Do Price Engines Product Codes Mean?

April 14th, 2009

Companies email newsletter - 14th April 2009

When we send you a lead via SMS or Twitter, we use a two character Product Code to inform you of the product the homeowner is looking for. It’s worth taking a moment to get familiar with what these product codes mean, and which ones you need to watch out for.

To look up the table of product codes, look at the table on the FAQ page on the Customer Admin Area. The codes are organised by category, so you can simply find the products which you deal with and note down their two character codes.

You can have your leads delivered via Twitter by following Price Engines on Twitter, and checking the ‘Twitter’ box on your account settings page.

Leave the Marketing to Us

April 3rd, 2009

You’d be surprised just how often we supply a lead to a company only to find that they’d very recently completed a job on exactly the same street - sometimes just a few doors down.

One recent example was a Garage Conversion supplier, who had been displaying signs in the driveway on a recent job and had their van parked in front of the property with their company logo on it. A week later they received a lead from Price Engines - for the house next door!

The reason this happens is simple: more than ever, customers are looking towards the internet to find home improvements suppliers, and Price Engines are right there making sure they’re finding you.

It just goes to show, you might think you’re doing everything right and you’ve got everything covered, but there’s no more cost effective way of finding customers in your area than Price Engines.

What Recession?

March 20th, 2009

We’ve all been told there’s a recession at the moment, but there’s nothing like cold hard facts to disprove a theory. At Price Engines, we’ve been comparing our most recent lead generation data with this time last year, trying to pinpoint the latest trends. What we’ve discovered may surprise you:

Our Window and Door appointments are up by a very encouraging 10% on last March;
Conservatory appointments are 35% higher than last year;
Best of all, our Solar Panel appointments have, staggeringly, doubled over the last year.
These figures aren’t website visits or enquiries through our quoter sites - they represent actual requested appointments by homeowners. We couldn’t be happier with this level of year-on-year growth in appointments.

It would seem that the only companies suffering from the recession are the ones not using Price Engines for their sales lead generation.

If you’ve not used our services in a while, we think you’ll be amazed at the new online services we offer and the unprecedented levels of control we now give all companies over the running of their own accounts. Find out more by contacting us today.

Homeowners get chance to win

March 17th, 2009

We’re just sending our subscribed homeowners another chance to win £30 of Marks & Spencer vouchers, email message.

All a homeowner has to do is click on the link and tell us their recommendation details. We’ll follow their lead up with our usual phone call, discuss our service with the recommended homeowner and if they’re serious about getting a quote and having the work done, we’ll confirm their details.

If you’re one of the companies that goes out to quote them, and you ’sign them up’, they’ll give you a recommended reference number.

Simply type in that reference number in the space on the Home Page of your Customer Admin Area to ensure that their friend gets their vouchers.

That’s it! We won’t be asking you for any contribution towards the vouchers - they’re on us.

It’s just another example of how Price Engines works to keep your businesses constantly supplied with the latest, freshest sales enquiries available.

“Are you a Price Engines approved company?”…

March 13th, 2009

…This is what a homeowner asked a local kitchen company when they followed up an enquiry. The homeowner was just watching her back, making sure she was working with a reputable company. Being part of the Price Engines network can add credibility and status to your company in the eyes of homeowners.

With that in mind, you should take a look at our new sister company, All Craftsmen, who can help you build your company’s reputation further.

All Craftsmen can provide you with a unique online pricing engine for your own website, and if you don’t have a website, then they can design and build that for you too, giving you the opportunity to generate your own online sales leads.

Their unique quality rating system means that when a homeowner uses your online quote service, they can have confidence in using a company that’s part of a recognised nationwide network of approved companies.

One Million Homeowners Quoted

March 6th, 2009

Last week Price Engines gave our 1,000,000th quote to a homeowner – on average, 1 in every 20 homeowners in the UK has had a quote from one of our sites. This is a major milestone for us, just under a decade since we began online pricing.

We’re delighted that so many homeowners are taking advantage of our services to get quotes and find local home improvements companies. More and more homeowners are finding our quoter sites thanks to our cutting edge online marketing campaigns, and the home improvements companies in our network have been seeing the benefits.

Despite having over 5000 Home Improvement Companies on our books, we never sell a lead to more than 3 companies, and we believe it is the quality of our leads which makes us stand apart from any other lead generation service.

At Price Engines, we’re looking forward to another decade and more of generating the best sales leads in the home improvements industry.

If you’ve not used our services in a while, we think you’ll be amazed at the new online services we offer and the unprecedented levels of control we now give all companies over the running of their own accounts. Find out more by contacting us or call 01332 267694

Don’t Withhold Your Number

February 27th, 2009

Is your office telephone number withheld when you make a call to a prospective customer? If you’re calling them from your mobile phone, does that withhold its number too? Have you put the phone number you’ll be calling from on your Price Engines Profile Page? (accessible via your customer admin area).

Our feedback suggests that homeowners are increasingly wary of callers that withhold their number. If you reach an answer machine, leave a message saying who you are, why you’re calling and details of how to get back to you.

Once we’ve passed you a lead, we email the homeowner straightaway to let them know the contact details of the companies we’ve sent their details to, so so make sure the phone number you’ll be calling from is on your Profile Page so they know what number to expect your call from. It makes sense to help them feel as at ease as possible.

Check your sales representatives and fitting teams are displaying their numbers when calling your customers. Don’t get off on the wrong foot before you’ve even made contact.
