The Life of a Lead

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

We take pride in the quality of our leads, and to understand why, you should understand the story of a lead – how a homeowner reaches us, how we process their information, how companies are selected for lead delivery and how it winds up in your delivery area. So here it is: a day in the life of Mr Daniel Craig of Colchester…

Daniel Craig was fed up with his kitchen and wanted to know how much it would cost to have it replaced. In the knowledge that Google is God and such information is freely available on the internet, he searched for ‘kitchen quotes’ and found the site KitchenQuoter.co.uk. Entering his details into the simple form, he was asked to give dimensions for the kitchen, approximate the length of surfaces he required and length of units he would like. Was it a modern or traditional style he was looking for and did he want to include new appliances. He was quoted an instant online price of £6000 for his dream kitchen, and he was pleased to have a ballpark figure from KitchenQuoter.

Twenty minutes later, Mr Craig received a phone call from Ranald, a friendly Scotsman working at the Price Engines callcenter in Derby. Ranald introduced himself, and went on to confirm the details Daniel had filled in on KitchenQuoter. He then asked him if he was interested in getting quotes for his kitchen project and offered to pass his details on to up to three recommended companies in his local area, so that they could do a site visit and give him a more accurate estimate. Mr Craig said he was still interested in going ahead with a new kitchen, and would very much like to get some more accurate quotes and compare three companies.

Ranald verified the details of Mr Craig’s project, confirmed his address and that Mr Craig was the homeowner and entered his information into our homeowner database. within 30 minutes, our ‘placer’ program had found all the kitchen companies around Colchester that are part of our ‘Quoter’ network, and passed the details of Mr Craig’s project to the top three, based on the product and location match as well as other factors including the amount and quality of the customer feedback we’ve had for them in the past. The kitchen project details were texted, emailed or faxed (or a combination of all three) to the three companies simultaneously as well as being appearing in their online customer admin areas. Within a few days, all three companies had contacted Mr Craig, been round to give an estimate and, armed with an understanding of how much he could expect to pay, he was able to get a good balance between cost and quality and hired Quantum Kitchens – one of our recommended companies – to build his perfect kitchen. Thanks to KitchenQuoter, Mr Craig was happy to have found the best kitchen company, and the company were happy to have found an excellent customer.

Mr Craig received a follow-up email from Price Engines seven days after his original quote request encouraging him to leave some feedback on the companies that had contacted him, for their benefit and the benefit of future Home Improvement Quotes customers. He also subscribed to the monthly Home Improvement Quotes email newsletter, offering him fantastic tips and ideas for future home improvements projects.

Delighted with his new kitchen, Mr Craig left very positive feedback for Quantum Kitchens. Quantum Kitchens kept in touch with their customer and were able to secure a future installation for someone he recommended to them. Angels sang, stars shone, and this happy union of customer and kitchen designer was truly blessed for eternity – all thanks to Price Engines and KitchenQuoter.co.uk.
